Hello there.
I thought i would kick start my first official post with a review of one of the places i have traveled to and i thought what better place to review then my most recent city break, Prague.
Starting off with a little bit of background, I first fell in love with the idea of visiting Prague back when i was a young teenager after watching a film featuring Mandy Moore, This was not a big blockbuster film but i loved it. In this film Mandy's character went on an adventure around parts of Europe, Prague being one of those places and she falls in love with the very cute guy blah blah blah you get the picture. After watching this film I decided i must go to this beautiful city and i will find love like Mandy.
Ok now fast forwarding about 10 years (oh god that makes me sound old) My partner David and I were trying to think of a city break to take my parents too as a Christmas present. We originally thought of Germany but while digging around my brain to think of other places i ended up pulling out Prague! Although i had found my true love already (get the sick bucket out) and seeing all the beautiful pictures of Prague on the internet, we had finally decided where to go.
In my opinion Prague was lovely and we all enjoyed our stay there, we went at the end of march for the Easter weekend, it was cold and it did snow but it was bearable.
The hotel we stayed in was named Hotel ST George (il leave a link at the end) it was a good hotel, clean and the staff were friendly, we had a large room in which David was able to smoke in (not a good habit, i know) and as we were on the first floor the Wifi reached to our room too so that was a nice added bonus as the Wifi was free. My parents room was on the top floor so they didn't get the Wifi but still enjoyed their room and was very pleased there was a lift as there was too many steps to consider. We had breakfast included which was pretty standard and they had a small bar by the reception. All in all the hotel was good as we got what we paid for.
we opted to walk around Prague which was nice and a little bit of a trek from where our hotel was. Seeing the view by the river was my favourite part of the trip, it really was a beautiful site to see. The Castle, Charles bridge, New town and old town was so lovely to walk around, seeing the astronomical clock in the old town was also a high light and the market stalls were nice to browse as were the shops.
The food was delicious with good prices and there was lots of places to grab a bite to eat, including the market stalls, especially if you fancy a tasty treat like their wonderful rolled pastries. We found ourselves stopping off in a cafe/restaurant with an underground club/bar called Legenda, the food and service was truly great and made us come back the following evenings.
To some up Prague, its a lovely picturesque city. For what we was looking for, an easy going place to wine, dine and enjoy the scenery, id say Prague was a perfect fit.
Obviously there are parts that i haven't covered, like the museums which i didn't visit but are worth a look at if that's what interests you (check the official tourist website linked below)
Have you been to Prague? leave a comment if you have.
